Doming epoxy resin refers to a type of clear epoxy resin specifically formulated to create a rounded, glossy surface (a “dome”) on flat items like stickers, jewelry, pins, photos, labels, and more. It's a self-leveling resin that cures to a high-gloss, glass-like dome shape, enhancing the appearance of the object it coats.
🔹 Key Characteristics of Doming Epoxy Resin:
Feature Description
Self-leveling Flows evenly and creates a smooth, rounded dome without brushing.
High Gloss Finish Cures to a clear, glass-like surface with excellent light reflection.
UV Resistant Often contains UV stabilizers to prevent yellowing over time.
Thicker Viscosity Thicker than casting or coating resins to prevent flowing off edges.
Bubble-Resistant Formulated to minimize air bubbles; some versions are heat-resistant.
Mix Ratio Usually 1:1 by volume (resin:hardener), but always check product directions.
🔧 How to Use Doming Epoxy Resin:
Prepare Your Surface
Clean and dry the surface (stickers, wood, photos, metal, etc.).
Lay flat on a level surface.
If coating paper or porous material, seal it first to avoid bubbles or discoloration.
Mix the Resin
Mix equal parts (usually 1:1) of resin and hardener.
Stir slowly for 2–3 minutes to avoid introducing bubbles.
Pour and Dome
Carefully drop resin into the center of the item.
The resin will naturally flow to the edges and dome.
Use a toothpick or pin to guide resin to corners or pop bubbles.
Cure Time
Let it sit dust-free for 12–24 hours, depending on the brand and room conditions.
Full cure may take up to 72 hours.
✅ Ideal Applications
Custom domed stickers
Bottle cap jewelry
Keychains
Pins and badges
Labels or decals
Art pieces or magnets
⚠️ Tips & Safety
Use gloves and work in a well-ventilated area.
Protect from dust and insects during curing (use a box cover).
Resin should be stored and used at around 21–25°C (70–77°F).
